Hectate
Hectate was the goddess of magic and witchcraft, but also of necromancy (bringing the dead back to life) so she also had links to the night, the moon and ghosts.
Parents
She was the only child of Perses (the titan of destruction) and Asteria (the titan of falling stars).
Important Relationships
She helped Demeter look for Persephone after she was kidnapped by Hades with flaming torches, and she was rewarded by becoming Persephone’s companion when she was in the underworld. She was described as having two familiars (animals kept as assistants). One was a dog who had once been the Queen of Troy, but after the Trojan war was saved by Hectate and transformed into a dog. Her other familiar was a polecat (an animal like a weasel) who used to be a witch called Gale.
