Who were the Ancient Greeks?
The ancient Greeks lived roughly in the area now known as Greece from 750 BCE (Before Comman Era) to 323 BCE. For most of this time period Greece was split into different kingdoms, each with their own ruling system. Due to the number of times stories were told and passed down through all of the kingdoms and generations, different places and people have different versions of the myths. The Ancient Greeks also lived in a time where slavery and mistreatment of women was common. Roles in society were very different from today.
