Prometheus created mankind from clay, but Zeus didn’t want humans to have food or fire for some reason. Prometheus loved his creations and wanted them to be able to live properly and build town and cities to live in. He knew that he would have to steal food and fire for the humans he managed to steal some meat from one of the god’s feasts, but when he bought fire from Olympus down to earth for mankind by putting coals in the stalk of a plant he was discovered, and Zeus punished him painfully.

He also punished mankind for accepting the gifts using a woman he had created called Pandora. He gave Pandora a sealed jar but told her to never open it, but when the gods created her, they gave her such a strong sense of curiosity that she couldn’t resist opening the jar. When she opened it, lots of scary, evil spirits were released into the world.
